Into the Woods
By Padma Doppalapudi
Day 7
Today we went to Delco Park. We started off by picking pictures from the STEMmersion so far for photo books. Then we walked to Delco Park and we met the Horror writer Rob E. Boley to start with the writing workshop. We started by listening to poems and finding the metaphors from them. We discussed the definitions of metaphors, then our writing workshop was to walk around the park and write metaphors from things we see individually. Then we also did the small world activity which was to go mark small space on the grass and observe it from different perspectives. Then we just started to walk and explore around some trails, and play soccer.
In the small world activity I observed that there is a whole another mini universe within the grass. From the top, our normal view of the world there seemed to be nothing but grass, wild flowers and dried grass. But, when keeled down the world was much more different compared to the normal view, there was more insects and tiny crumbs. Then we lied down on the grass the world down there contained many animal homes such as many Grasshoppers, Ants, Pill bugs, and tiny flowers. I learned that you really need get close and observe because you never know what you will find.
Small World Activity:
Standing Up: There is green grass with some dried grass, some clovers and dandelions. Bees are flying around the flowers
Kneel Down vantage point : There are some visible insects and some red wild berries.
Ground view: There is so much life here like many insects homes, such as ant hills and the flowers are more complex then they seem to be from above
